Polo Vivo: ‘Wave’ TV commercial

Now that the marketing machine has swung into action, Volkswagen South Africa has aired the first new TV commercial for the entry-level Polo Vivo. Created by Ogilvy Cape Town and with ‘So much to celebrate,’ the 60-second spot plays on the feelgood factor of the car that Volkswagen wants to use to capture potential Polo Vivo owners. The company will be hoping that, like the on-screen bystanders in the spot, prospective Vivo drivers will be carried along by a wave of euphoria for its new baby…

2010 Polo: ‘Hollywood Studios/Rumour’ TV commercial

Another week, another new Polo TV commercial. We first saw this epic (in more ways than one) mini-blockbuster TV spot for the fifth-generation Polo with a French soundtrack, as the 69-second commercial was made by the advertising agency Agence V in Paris. Here’s the latest TV commercial in the global advertising campaign sales push for the new Polo. Marketed to the individual needs and aspirations in each market, this Volkswagen South Africa spot features that particular country’s new Polo marketing message, ‘Expect Big Things’. The big thing in this latest 60-second commercial is the fact that snow is falling in the middle of a heat wave in Cape Town. But of course, advertising being what it is, the snow just might not be real snow at all…

New Polo TEAM: ‘Wintermärchens’
TV commercial

Here’s the TV commercial from the campaign for the Team range of models of which the Polo TEAM we highlighted last week is one. First aired on 23 December 2009, the ‘Winter Fairy Tale’ spot is just one part of a multimedia campaign and along with its print and online equivalents, the 30-second ad promotes the group of Volkswagen special editions made to highlight Germany’s 2010 World Cup entry.

Paraded through the streets of Germany like heroes who have already won football’s biggest prize, the TEAM special editions are given an ovation usually reserved for top players of the sport. German rock band (I know, we thought so too) Revolverhead provide the soundtrack, reworking their 2008 fan anthem Helden 2008 exclusively for VW to become Helden 2010 for the German car maker to take to South Africa in the summer.
