Almost a year after its arrival was confirmed, Volkswagen UK has announced prices for the all-electric ID Polo, the first models of which go on sale today, 30 July 2026.

Much has been made of the proposed €25,000 starting price, but the two initial variants will be Launch Edition models, priced from £25,555. The entry-level model can be ordered from 10 September, and Volkswagen has stayed true to its promise – the Life 37kWh trim will be available from £23,945 (€24,995 in Europe).

ID Polo Life and Style Launch Editions: 30 July 2026
Following other markets, the first two ID Polo variants UK buyers can order are the ID Polo Life Launch Edition and the ID Polo Style Launch Edition. Both have an ‘enhanced specification’ over the forthcoming regular Life and Style models and are available in 52kWh battery and 208bhp guise. Curiously, Volkswagen UK states a Life Launch Edition with a 37kWh battery and 132bhp will be available from ‘stock only’ – perhaps only if a dealer orders a car in that specification as a demonstrator.

Standard equipment includes dual-zone air conditioning – not a standard ID Polo Life feature – heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. The ID Polo Style Launch Edition adds such luxuries as a panoramic glass roof, rear privacy glass, massaging front seats, and a suite of driving assistance features including an Area View camera, Park Assist Pro, and VW’s latest Travel Assist technologies.

The ID Polo Life Launch Edition 37kWh costs £25,555, while the 52kWh version is priced from £28,830. The ID Polo Style Launch Edition starts at £32,995, and both the 52kWh battery versions are eligible for the UK Government’s £1500 Electric Car Grant, although Volkswagen hasn’t stated whether these figures include the discount or not. However, they do include VAT and are ‘On-The-Road’ Recommended Retail prices.

Series-production models: 10 September 2026
Series-production ID Polos will go on sale in the UK on 10 September 2026, with prices starting from £23,945 (OTR RRP including VAT), and as with the Launch Editions, all 52kWh 208bhp ID Polos will be eligible for the £1500 Electric Car Grant.

Standard equipment on the ID Polo Life includes parking sensors, a rear-view camera, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, a selection of driving modes, wireless smartphone charging and a height-adjustable boot floor that can hold up to 441 litres of luggage with the rear seats in place. Interestingly, there is no base Trend model offered in UK like there is in most European markets.

The £28,470 ID Polo Style adds 18-inch alloy wheels, illuminated ‘VW’ logos front and rear, IQ Light LED matrix headlights, interior ambient lighting, sports comfort front seats, and ‘play’ and ‘pause’ accelerator and brake pedals.

We’ve already detailed the full technical and equipment specifications on PoloDriver.com, but just to briefly recap, the new ID Polo is available in three power outputs (113, 132 and 208bhp) and two battery sizes (37kWh and 52kWh, lithium iron phosphate and nickel manganese cobalt chemistries respectively), with an official WLTP combined range of up to 281 miles, depending on configuration. Direct current (DC) fast charging of 90kW or 105kW is available as standard, meaning battery top-ups from 10-80 percent can take as little as 24 minutes.

Entry level Trend model arrives in Europe
Further to the UK ID Polo order books opening, German customers can also now order the base Trend variant. Priced from €24,995, the model is also available in France and the Netherlands. Standard equipment includes LED headlamps with a high-beam assist feature, climate control, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, a multifunction steering wheel as well as a suite of driver assistance systems.

The ID Polo Trend is powered by the 113bhp electric motor with the 37kWh LFP battery, offering a range of up to 200 miles (323km). Fast charging tops out at 86kW, meaning a 10-80 per cent battery top-up takes 23 minutes.

Finally, according to reports, Volkswagen has a bank of 25,000 orders for the ID Polo. More than 70,000 orders in total have been received across the wider Volkswagen Group for its new entry level ‘Electric Urban Car Family’ – of which the ID Polo is a member – which includes the VW ID Cross, Cupra Raval, and Skoda Epiq. Production of the ID Polo and the Cupra Raval began on 3 June 2026 at the Seat and Cupra Martorell factory in Spain.
